Don't expect a
hp boost, if there is, won't be much, probably less than 1 or 2hp. Also depends on which year bike
1600 stock
rev limit is approx 4250 with the
Dyna you can raise it to 5k
rpm and of course you have options with timing curve as well to match any mods that you have done or plan to do.
1700 stock rev limit is approx 4750 you can go to 5500rpm due to the valve springs, the 1700 stock unit has slightly different timing then the 1600 unit in some part due to the front pulley since the rpm's will be slightly difference to speed when compared to the 1600 engines, so they made a slight different to timing compared to a stock 1600 module
As far as either engine, 1600, 1700, pipes, air kit jetting, neither one will get more ponies above the approx 4800rpm level, so even though on a 1700 you can set the rev limit to 5500rpm, there is zero benefit for those mods, however on a 1600 engine, setting the limit to 5k rpm, you will benefit, I know on my 1600 hp tops out at 4800, if I had the stock module, I would lose hp
if you want to go on the cheap and have a 1600 engine, you can put a module from a 1700 in there, usually you can find them for 50 bucks or so
