GUYS,couple questions:

1) At what mileage did the electric fuel pump on you'r Carb'd (not EFI) R* go bad?

2) Or how many miles are on you'r bike so far with the stock/original elec f-pump still working ok?

I am curious about approx how long the original stock elec f-pump on our R*'s lasts on avg .

Mine went at around 7,500 miles, but it was the relay that took a dump. Pump still pumps if I bypass relay and give it juice directly, but I want nothing to do with it, so for 2+ years it's been on a shelf in a box .

just as a point of interest, for the guys who have had the pump crap out, how many times have you run dry?

i´m asking because harley fuel pumps on the injected TC models have the pump in the gas tank, and use the gas as coolant for the pump.

one of the techs from S&S was explaining that running an F.I. harley dry 3 or 4 times can easily result in the pump crapping out.

every time i ride because i turn the fuel off and run the pump dry when parking the bike in the garage.

Scott I have 68,000 on my 2000 it has never given me any problems and I have 19,000 on my 02 and no problems.

I know someone that it crapped out about 210k. I took mine of approx 47k when I went with the 42hsr, unfortunately I tossed it in garbage instead of saving for someone in need. No garage, so limited in space and storage.

Man,i got the impression from all the chatter on going pumpless here in RSC those thnigs were craping out at a lot lower miles then that on avg.

But there's always the few that pop up that didnt last that long or have other elec issues like a bad realy already mentioned above.

This is getting iteresting so please keep the info comming in on how many miles your stock elec yami f-pumps have gone so far or how many miles it went before it died .

After i get some more data/info i will crunch the #'s to see what it really look like which i will do with the extreemly high mile runs & low mile fails too but will also crunch the #'s without those high flyers on both ends of the data fields too .

That info will give people a better idea of just how long the stock yami elec f-pumps last on avg to help them make a more informed choice of if and or when they should go pumpless if at all.

If i get enough additonal data points to make the data more accurate i will then start another post titeld something like ELEC F-PUMP MILEAGE SURVEY RESULTS so they are avail for all to see.

So keep that info a commin/LOL!!!!!!
