I've been using this site for quite a few years now and decided I might as well join in. Many of the tech tips here and at Mr. Tidy's site have saved the day for me. I am now working through a starting problem that I believe has originated in the auto-decompression solenoid. I'll check that out tomorrow.
I ride a 2000 Silverado R*, having owned 5 bikes before this one. I've been riding 44 years, starting on a Bridgestone 50cc when I was 19 and overseas. Having ridden my R* from California to Minnesnowta and back I can vouch for the ability of this bike to roll on the miles. My son, in St Paul, rides an 04 Midnight Star and his younger brother here in Cali rides an '05 Warrior. We all have modified our bikes to one degree or another.
Enough for now and my continuing thanks to those of you who have helped me in the past.

Just picked up my first Yamaha in 20 yrs, a new 1700 Silverado. Only 100 or so miles on it so far but in love already. Found this place right away and very glad I did, lots of help for a new owner.
