Well folks where do I start. I am pretty sure that everyone has heard the story of my on going saga with the dealership and my horrendous case of
SVS (sticky valve syndrome). Turns out everyone, including myself, was right. It was SVS and the man from up high on the Yamaha hill came down yesterday to see it for himself.
Not only did he come but he came bearing a truck load of new parts (speedstar springs, new pistons, etc) Really to much stuff to list or remember right now. They tore down my engine and lo and behold what did they find but a rear valve stuck so badly in the open position that it couldn’t be moved with a screwdriver. Hmmmmm, were they told about that months ago?
Nevertheless, they proceeded to to a complete upper rebuild of the engine. I will be picking it up tomorrow with a new 1 year warranty on all work done. New plugs, new oil, new hell so much of everything plus 20% off my new front tire. All in all while a HUGE pain in the ass dealing with this mess. Hopefully I will have my bike back and running tomorrow.
Huge thanks to everyone. Especially to those who provided the links to the internal service memo and the court cases against Yamaha. All of which were shown to the dealer.
Also, I would like to mention Steve at Gainesville Motorsports. He is a class act and has really tried to be helpful in a difficult spot for him. I hold no grudges or ill will against him or how he handled things. I understand he had to tow the company line as he did, but he did it with class and did not ever make me feel like an idiot or tried to bully me.
I will update tomorrow after I get the bike back. Everyone cross your fingers or pray your rosary, because come 2pm tomorrow I’ll be knees in the wind again.
Thank God this is almost over. (Hopefully)

Post edited by: clifdog, at: 2007/05/31 22:42
