Question about 2000 Roadstar 1600 1 Year, 11 Months ago
Hello fellow riders,

I have a 2000 Roadstar with just under 16000 miles. Just bought a couple of weeks ago and love it. I was wondering if I should be using any kind of fuel treatment in gas tank for better performance/gas mileage? Just had tune up, oil change, etc done. Running good with a few spits here and there. Any help would be great.
Be safe out there.
Thanks,
RC

Use regular gas and if you can get it use gas that does not have ethanol mixed with it! You might give it a shot of Sea Foam once in a while. Gllad to have you with us.

You didn't say if your bike is stock or not. If stock, you don't need to add any fuel treatments.

Idrum4jl ride it like you stole it, hit the rev limiter every once in a while for the ride and don't lug it. Keep the R's up these bike don't like slow speeds or low R's. Don't blip the throttle they don't like that as well. The harder ya ride it the better they like it.

Hi, Curt,

I have a 2002. Would like to know how to reach the limiter, and what's the feeling when it does? Don't have the tachometer on board. Could you share some experiences? Thanks.

Idrum4jl, As you just got the bike, you will want to check with yamaha and make sure the tranny recall has been done...contact a dealer with your vin# and they can check it out...

chieninhouston, it would be better if you open a new thread so things don't get confused, but since your new here, we'll cut ya some slack... hitting the rev limiter is much like running out of gas, it will start missing and cutting out until you slow down a bit then it will even out...the limit on a stock 1600 is around 4300 rpm give or take...
