I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but...
I couldn't be happier since I went pumpless. It cost less, it's more reliable and I haven't had an episode of
carb puke since. I also really like the look without that fuel pump/filter bracket and cover hiding the jugs.
My pump lasted for around 17,500 miles and just died. What!?

Then, I found out how much mama Yama wanted for a new one! What!?

So, they expect me to shell out a bunch of cash for a new pump every 17,000 - 25,000 miles? (I'm still a little bitter about this, if you couldn't tell.)
Yes, you do need the bigger carb inlet and float needle, a few feet of fuel line, cut down the
main petcock tube in the tank and remove the rollover valve from the vent line or vent the gas cap to prevent a vacuumm forming in the tank. But, then you're done. No more issues, 'cause gravity's not going anywhere soon.
I know that some people feel uncomfortable make modifications to the original design of their bike. I understand that. The engineers spent a lot of time choosing to do it that way and they know more about it than I do, right? Sure, but after years of a design, the engineers and the manufacturers change those designs to make 'improvements'. That's because over time, flaws are found, realized and corrected, but, that's not what they call it. They call them 'improvements'. Well, that's all our pumpless modification is. An 'improvement' that won't cost you again.
Anyway, my $0.02.
Ratl.
