Thanks that's the before pic I got off craig's list when I bought it. The pipes are Bub's

Thanks everyone for the help especially the link to a wiring diagram. I got my new parts last friday and she runs better than ever.I put on dyna coils (2.2ohm), new wires, and a dyna 3000 ignition. I guess ignorance is bliss because I thought it ran alright before it broke. But I went from a vlx 600 to a R* so it had more power than I was used to, but NOW! WOW! I set the revs at 5000 and the advance to A32. One thing though it seems to run hotter than before. I tried the ignition at 30 deg. but it doesn't run as smooth and it wasn't any cooler any thoughts?

Gald to hear you got it figured out and rnning better then it did prior to breking down.

BYW,most guys run 34 deg timing with the dyna 3000 ign on R*'s with stock compresson & stock cam's so the 30 *& 32 deg timing you have been trying is somewhat retarded so try 34 deg and see how it responds to that.

Lastl, the more retarded the timing is the hotter the motor will run in most cases so it should run a bit cooler @ 34 deg then when for ex when you tried it at 30 deg timing.
