Help 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Here is the problem I am having:
when I turn the key on my roadstar 2003, turn signals, horn, spedometer and al lthe lights on the spedometer do not work. Motorcyccle starts no problem and when I pres the brake lights on th espedometer come up- this woudl include, clock, mileage, neautral light and the rest- horna nd the turn lights do not work. As soon as the brake( regardles if this is foot or hand brake) is let go the lights go off.
Can anybpody give me suggestion what this might be?\

Thank you in advance.

Toni

What I would do is track down each wire individually until I found what was crossed. It would seem that the power for the instruments, which is all on one fuse, is somehow crossing with the fuse that supplies the lights, which is also on a seperate fuse. There might be something behind the fuse block that is causing a short and the problem.
There are those on the forum that know a great deal more than I. The will hopefully chime in and offer some better help.
Good luck

Guessing the PO added some extras or tried wiring something up. I'd try and find out what was done previously and post it here. Chances are collectively we'll figure it out.

The fuse box is under the left side cover you need both the service manual and the owners manual for your model yr http://www.paulmilner.com/yamaha/handbuch/service_manual_1602_082008.pdf http://www.paulmilner.com/yamaha/handbuch/04_supplement.pdf
