Re:Drill the Stock Exhaust (stage 1 4 Months, 4 Weeks ago
With my Star turning one year old this week... I figured at 9200 miles, it was time for baby to grow up and start playing with the bigger kids... I did the lazy man Stage-1 this past weekend... (Drilled through the cone and into the baffle plate...) And, it's taken a little time to get used to the new sound, but it's growing on me now...
So, whadda ya think?

I just did my 08 .. Took me about 15 min to do it.. I took her for a spin and def sounds better.. Its not that loud but much better than stock.. I did the lazy man way also by drilling through both cone and baffle.. I did 3- 1/2 " holes.. I might do one more hole then maybe a couple 1/4 " in between (like 2 of them) I have no backfire on decel at all I guess it does nothing to FI..
Thanks for the tips

I had read of the Stage 1 mod elsewhere and did it last year. That report specifically called for eight 1/2" holes, after removal of the end cone.
I did it just like the report, and was very satisfied with the results.
But... since I had picked up a Santee tapered cone muffler exhaust system off of eBay for $170, I installed that this past Spring, and I like it even better now, plus I probably removed some 20 lbs. of stock muffler metal... those suckers are heavy!
I'll get a picture up before too long... I promise!
