How the F*CK do you tighten the Exhaust Flange Nut 4 Years, 11 Months ago

How the F*CK do you tighten the exhaust flange nuts down when you install HK 3" Big Straights? I used an allen socket to pull off the old ones, but the HK's heat sheild is in the way and I can get my socket in there. Also, even if I use an old fashioned allen key, I cannot access the rear cylinder with it - so How do you guys do it?

Hmmm...I'm trying to remember (it was last year)....I know the whole process was a bitch, but I think I just used a slim hex socket and a long thin extension. At the time, I did have the tank, seat, carb & everything off the bike, though. Sorry it's frustrating you...I remember it did me.
But once it's done, the ends justify the means!

I'm so frustrated right now I could take a baseball bat to those ^%$#&%*$ things. Only thing I can think of is IF somebody makes an allen socket that has about 6" of hex key sticking out before the socket itself. A regular extention won't work because the socket itself is too fat.

What about this? I know that AutoZone sells sets of LONG allen keys (I just bought a set for $5), in both SAE and metric sizing! They probably measure a good 5-6 inches on the long side.
Use the cutting wheel on your Dremel, cut off the short side of the allen key. Now you've got a 5-6 inch allen extension that you can use with a socket and ratchet!
Good luck.

$89 on top of everything else = ouch.
I just put those up to show you they make long ones. I'm sure you can look around and find cheaper ones.
