Instead of changing your bars to cure back pain .. 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I was about to change my bars since after 15 minutes on the r* I get pains between my shoulder blades, but I already owned one of these for when I do track days on my Ducati:

so I started wearing it whenever I ride the r* more than 30 minutes and I am happy to say, I am not changing my bars. Problem solved.

I had tried a back rest too, and that didn't help.

The issue I see with this belt, as well as those belts workers use when lifting, they keep them on tight all day, when they are suppose to use them tight during a lift only. They actually can cause muscles to weaken when used improperly. You would be better to set your ride ergonomically, whether it be to change bars or use risers or a backrest

I had the same problem you did back in '99. A set of Pro One 4" risers was an instant and total cure. I thought Yamaha changed the bars in later years to fix the problem but I guess not.

I've used a stiffening belt though because after 4 or 500 miles I'd start slumping in the seat and that also causes aches in the lower back. A good backrest cures that though.

Have you considered conditioning with Kettlebells?

I understand they can cure anything...
