Oh, and two year leftover doesn't cover batteries.
Does it specifically state that in the warranty booklet or is that something the dealer said? Warranty starts at delivery to the first retail purchaser.

Is there another dealer you can call?
If your bike is brand new, not previously owned.
IMO Warranty starts on date of purchase....your purchase. Until then, care and maintenance is on the dealer.
They owe you a new battery.

I just read the terms of the warranty on mine which is a '99 and I don't think they've changed since and it doesn't say anything at all about the battery not being covered. There is a Yamaha customer service # in the manual that you can call.
Wouldn't hurt to have the dealer show you where the thing about the battery is written in your warranty information.
I've sold more than a few new cars that were "left over" 2 year olds and everything was covered on them.

A call to Yamaha customer service might be worth your while. If it doesn't say anything in the warranty information in your owners manual about it not being covered then it should be covered.

Just contacted my dealer here in Houston. They said typically yes it would be covered under warranty.
see email below...
Typically yes. We have some guidelines we have to follow. Contact our service manager Brian McKinley. He will walk you through protocol.----- Original Message -----

Subject: question
If I bought a new Yamaha Road Star, not pre-owned. Would the battery be under warranty?
What if the battery quit working, will not hold a charge after the first month of ownership, is it under warranty?
