In gear starting! 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Does anyone know how to wire the Road* where it will start in gear with the clutch pulled in and the kickstand up?? Very awkward at times to find neutral to start after parking on a steep incline with it in gear to stop it from rollng.
I know my Venture will start in gear with the kickstand up and the clutch pulled in.. Should be a way to rewire this thing?? Anyone?? Butch

I know how!! Buy a 2000 Roadie. My 2000 will start in gear with the clutch in and stand up. But a friend has a 2001 and his won't. Does anyone know if the 2000 could start in gear as a stock bike or was mine altered? I bought it used.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Mine will start in gear with the kickstand up and the clutch lever pulled. Do you mean start with the kickstand down the bike in gear and the clutch lever pulled?

Yes, all the bikes I have ever ridden start a light when I made a mistake and I start it in gear with the clutch pulled in. Maybe the switch for the clutch is broken or the kick stand.

Would have to be the clutch switch cause if it was the kickstand it would stall as soon as you put it in gear.

Butch, look down at the kickstand and find the switch. Spray some WD40 on it and work the switch while someone holds the bike up for you. When the stand is up the switch is released and completes the circuit unless it is stuck. Or maybe it's the other way but anyway it's probably stuck - it has happened to me.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the clutch switch works the same way - check it also.
