Mine is a 01.
Starts in gear with the clutch pulled
& stand up.
Check the clutch lever switch and kickstand switch.

Same here on my '05. Starts with kickstand up and clutch pulled in. I can feel the bike pull forward a bit just as it starts.

Does anyone know how to wire the Road* where it will start in gear with the clutch pulled in and the kickstand up?? Very awkward at times to find neutral to start after parking on a steep incline with it in gear to stop it from rollng.
I know my Venture will start in gear with the kickstand up and the clutch pulled in.. Should be a way to rewire this thing?? Anyone?? Butch

your clutch switch is bad, if you want to by pass it unplug at the switch and plug those 2 wires together, that's it. the sw. is normally an open.

What you might want to try, I noticed that the switch can be taken apart when I replaced mine a few yrs back, and clean the internal contacts, just be careful, I don't know what small parts are in there nor what might be spring loaded, I already had the new sw. in hand, so didn't bother to take it apart

Thanks Erbman.. Guess we think along the same lines.. I just read your post, and I had already jumped the switch, and it worked! Used some QED contact cleaner, and seemed to fix it...used a little silicon lube on the plunger and it is working fine now....I don't use wd-40 on anything, but won't get into that...where did you find a switch, incase I need to replace it.... I have checked Bike Bandit oem parts, and Babbits oem parts and can not find a listing for it....Butch

My '03 starts in gear, but sometimes creeps. Adjusted clutch lever for proper play, seems to do it most when warm. Anybody else experience this?
