Nitrous Oxide System 1 Year, 9 Months ago
While driving my girlfriend to the trainstation the other day, in my sad excuse for a car, i saw a fellow R* rider which in it self is a rare sight here in Denmark. And a thing caught my eye, a small bottle mounted on the left side of the rear fender... NOS. I immediately thought, and said out loud, that i got to have!.. I want the laughing gas!

So what's your thoughts on beefing up our engines with Nitrous ?
A bit afraied it will be like steroids, effective but with lots of "side effects"

The NOS bike is acually for sale here is a link to the danish sales site http://www.dba.dk/yamaha-xv-1600-wild-star-1600/id-67710478/
the asking price is 24.189 $$ Normal price around here

People drive to the train station? I thought everybody rode there bikes there... I don't think I've ever seen so many bikes in one place than when I was in Amsterdam...

As far as Nitrous, really depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Racing = Nothing better/cheaper for quick HP without seriously modding the engine. Most natually aspirated, low compression applications do well with a decent shot without requiring to beef up the internals.

Street Use = Can't say that I'd want to lift the front tire of my R*, but some might want that type of fun. You have to be a such a high RPM to hit it, I don't know if it's practical for normal crusing.

Cool factor = Whether you use it or not. The bottle really looks cool hanging off the bike. Get a nice gauge and a purge button and have a little fun with people's reactions...

I'd say get a Dyna ignition so you can retard the timing when you're running the juice, different cams to take advantage of the nitrous, an aluminum intake so that you don't blow the rubber one apart when it backfires (and it will), maybe bump the compression down a bit to help the fight against detonation, and have a fuel solenoid to dump some extra gas in there when you're spraying it. I don't know how strong the stock cases, cylinders, rods, and crank are though. Guess it all depends on how fast you want to go.

Well some of us sick bastards have considred doing this already but I didn't pull the trigger. Pingel sells a nice set up:
http://www.pingelonline.com/nx_two_cylinder.htm

To do it right your really need to pair it with a Magnuson blower for the Roadie.
http://www.magnacharger.us/

With both of them you can then launch parts for distance!

Well the thought was to bolt it on, leaving the internals and ignition stock. Think I will have a talk with the owner of the bike, he seems like a nice guy. Writing that the NOS worked real good on he's previous bike a vs 1400 suzuki intruder. He writes that it haven't been in use on the R*. Properly because it is a sales ad. By the way, he want's to trade it for a HD fatboy !?

Why mount it on a cruiser like our Rodie's? Well bought the star because i fell in love with the look's/style of the bike, that doesn't mean i dont like to have the exilerating feeling of a fast accelration. Think it is very cool to have a bike with a laid back look, but the power to scare you a little. Kind of a sleeper bike. Plus it would be nice to be able to take on some of the HD's riding around town, and humiliate some of the BMW's with islamic symbols hanging from the rear view mirror.
