Well when it would not refire with old battery post 2 hr ride but when bike sat for a while did start could due to dirty/corroded connections at battery/starter/starting system in general .

But since the bike ran ok for the complete 2 hr ride but would not refice post a lits stop but did refire after it sat a little while then ran ok after that i'd bet the chraging system is ok.

Thats becuase if it wasnt ok the bike would have dies long before that & battery would hae been dead too for no refire.

So it looks to be in that case a tired battery at the time ot tired starter ,maybe both,or dorty corroded battery & starter cables.etc.

Good luck.

Scott

Update!!! Well, the battery was charged, I put it on and tried to turn it on and NOPE!!! Big failure!! Now, I'm gonna check the charging system. It so weird that the battery drained so quickly though. I'm gonna ask for a refund and I am gonna have to go to the Yamaha dealership and get a battery from them. I am also gonna have to check the stator and the rectifier.

For the clock and trip meter to reset, the battery has to be taken out of the ckt.Since you did not do this physically, added to that, dim lights,I would look for bad cables, connections as mentioned before. Have you taken off all the cable connections (to the starter, relay, etc) and cleaned them?

Sergeant Cee ,since battery tested bad thats likely the issue but charging system is likely ok becasue bike ran with prior weak battery and if it wasnt charging thew bike would have stopped on the road someplace which it didnt doo.

also,as mentione mult times you need to clean the battery and starter cable connections and also connetctions at starter solenoid etc to ensure they arent dirty/cooroded because some of your bike issues look to be of that nature.

BTW,if you want a hi perf higher 310CCa battery (vs stock 270CCA) for the same or less money chk these links out i pasted below.

Sometimes good things are worth waitng a couple days for rather then paying a lot more money for a lower perf battery from the yami dealer/steeler/LOL!!!!!!!
