What length cable did you end up buying? I ordered my parts at the HD dealership and the called yesterday and said they should be in soon.

I got the stock length as I want to keep the knob in the same place that I now have it and I can switch back to the CV if I don't like the flatside.

I made a bracket to go where the fuel pump mount was I assume you have yours in the same place. Did your choke cable have that plastic nut that screws into the carb for the cable mine did? The guy that had it broke the cable side end of it so I ordered two of them. The one that is on the CV carb is metal sure wish the 42 was.

Yes I made a bracket for the choke knob where the pump was.

The 42 comes with the plastic nut for the carb end. I made sure not to go crazy overtighening it.

I'm going to try and see if I can extend the idle to mount under the choke knob. I'm finding the carb if very sensitive to temps and i need to adjust the idle much more often than the CV (never).

I bought the short idle adjuster but I should have just modded the long one. You should be able to cut the cable just before it gets solid at the carb end. The cut the cable again just below the knob and drill the knob out in the center to slip onto the cable stub and glue it good. I will have a spare choke plugger, spring, and plastic nut if anything happens to yours or anyone else's.

Went across the border and picked up the choke cable and Yost tube, and then did the parking lot mod.

As soon as I fired it up I could tell the different. Adjusted the PMS to 2 turns, readjusted the idle, played with the PMS to find the 'sweet spot' and then rode away. No backfiring on decel.

Rode 200 km home and now have to fine tune the carb .... but I think it's close. Mileage looks very good for speeds under 55 mph. Will verify when fill up the tank but it looks like probably around 50 mpg. Will monitor emissions at idle but I can tell from the smell that it's not as rich as it was before.

BTW ... the main jet was a bugger to unscrew. Whoever put it in must have monster hands.

COOL so how was the cable was it long enough? Mine was to long to run like I had it before I am going to have to put it on the back bolt that hold the left upper motor mount to the head. I got mine on todaay and cranked it up and all I can say is HOLLY CRAP BATMAN!

Just to confirm ... I bought the Maxair choke cable. I also found the stock length a bit too long. It fits OK but it loops down quite a bit. If I had to do it over again I would probably buy one 2-4" shorter.

I'll fill up later today ... interested to see what the mileage is.

Are you running it stock or do you have the Yost Power Tube? What are your setting right now? Are you running the stock petcock? I have the 160 main standard everything else and the power tube. I cranked it up with the choke let it warm up set the idle and the PMS out 2 turns didn't have to touch the PMS so far but need to set the TPS. The needle is on 3 right now but things may change once I get to ride it. I have my eye on a 45 for the other bike I am so impressed with the performance. Keep me informed on your tuning and good luck.

I put in the Yost yesterday.

Main - 160
Needle - OEM (97 with clip on 3)
Pilot - 25

Pingle petcock - not really needed but my stock was leaking..

Parking lot tuneup .... I set the PMS at about 1.5 which is where max revs were.

TPS was set at midpoint for my voltage range. I haven't check it since I put in on.

I'll probably play with it over the next few days. I'd like to change out the needle and lean it out some more but really .... it seems fine where it is.
