So do I the 07 has the 45 on it now and is running great the 05's 45 is on but I have to get the tank painted and the Pingle put in. Stock needle clip on 3, 25 pilot, 170 main now to take a nice long ride and see what my mileage is. I want to get at least one dyno 3 pull run to check AF ratio. Some one on the Yost site asked them this question and here is what Yost said. "4. What main jet with my set up would be a good starting point?" "Ideally, evolutions 165 main jet, TC88 175 main jet, 95" big bores 185 main jet as a rule of thumb. If you are unsure, please feel free to call or email or tech support 320 983-5410 or customerservice@yostperformance.com." I think we would qualify as a "95 Big Bore" don't you?

Well this forum is way better than it used to be. I can see past post and reply better than reading and replying to one.

Neil has set me up pritty good and has gotten me started and riding but he's way down south and I'm 1000' sea level way up north as our rides lean out in colder wether. So with that being said I'm thinking of the first slot on the #97 or buying a leaner needle?

I'll have to turn to Dennis Kirk for that choke cable. Called about back order from Jireh Cycles and still didn't have them so I canceled. Out for poker run today and see how things feel.

"acceleration, and cruise mpg above 70mph" I'm looking for better acceration, the cruzing is fine. I'll have to look to see if I have a 160 main in the package much easier than a needle clip change But I'll try the needle clip first as suggested.

Took a long time for Dennis Jerk and UPS to diliver my choke cable. Was worth the wait the stock cable wasn't holding idle circut steady. Replaced the rubber boot to be sure of no air leaks. Is a 42mm manifold necessary? The only problem (if there is one) I'm 1/2 turn out on the pilot air.

set the pilot screw 2 turns out, then adjust the idle after it's fully warmed. If you have to go to any bigger on pilot jet other than the stock 25 then you have an air leak somewhere. I don't know of anyone that had to go more than 1.75 turns out nor of anyone that had to go bigger pilot then the stock 25.

Like Erbman said two turns out on the air screw and set the idle to 900. The stock manifold will work just fine but take the little brass spacer out of the carb clamp so it will clamp tight. Also cut the notches off the part that indexes on the old CV carb so the carb will fit tight in the manifold. I have two 45's and they do just fine with the stock ported manifolds.

question to Erbman & Curt, I've got a 04. BAK, AIS removed, Freedom duals w/ rejetted stock carb. I believe jetting is spot-on ( runs great & plugs look perfect) Performance wise, what would I gain switching to a 42mm carb ?

I found a very small leak on the rear manifold to head side. Fixed is and I can still not go any further than 3/4 out on the PMS with a 25 pilot jet. Any further out and I get too much popping on decel.

I checked when I put the manifold back on with new rings so I don't think I'm leaking anywhere but have not had time to check thoroughly.

Other than the PMS at 3/4 out it idles and runs well.

Sounds to me like you need to go to a 27.5 pilot to let more gas in at idle to allow the air screw to come out more. If you have a 27.5 you should try it and see if it also makes the other ranges perform better. I've got a 27.5 in my 45 on the 07 and my air screw is out 1 3/4. With the 25 in the screw was about 3/4 to 1 turn out and that was with the needle on 3 and a 175 main. I now have a 175 main, needle on 3 with a silver washer on top of the white plastic washer and the air screw is 1 3/4. Those slight changes made a difference.

Instant acceleration and better overall engine performance. There is no lag so to speak like the OEM CV carb. You twist the throttle you are gone, the OEM you twist the throttle you are going some time soon. Me I will never go back to the OEM CV carbs, I sold all of mine already. I do have a stripped 99 body laying around and a few parts for it if some one wants it for shipping.

Yup, getting a little popping on decel also not getting the compression, its as if I'm lean with the wrong needle setting. Those 2 circuts do overlap don't they? Welp I'm going out to raise the needle to the 3rd clip like I said I would in an earlier post. Don't have much slack in the choke cable either but pritty sure I'm seated.
thanks all
