IF YOUR CARB IS FLOODING:
mine had a bad o ring behind the float check valve, it had a invisible crack, the float and valve worked fine, but fuel leaked out around it . you can either buy the whole check valve from yamaha for $35, or got to napa or good parts store, and just get a neoprene oring that will fit, usually about 25 cents, get the closest 2 or three orings, and then install with a dab of oil, and test with air pressure by holding finger over the brass, and blowing in the inlet.

BB is right Curt..people like you make this site what it is.. so i just put in a new needle, seat and o-ring..was still flooding..i lowered the float level and got the flooding to stop...removed the vacuum pump and i am running fuel right from the tank..rode the bike up and down the road to get it hot..still not flooding..when i get my grizzly valve i will put that in instead of the stock needle..my pms does not respond..i turned it all the way in and it does nothing..i set it about 3/4 turn out for now..i put the stock primary jet back in twice and the bike would not start..both times trying the pms in different places..no go..does not seem to be running rich but i dont know until i can ride long enough to figure the gas mileage out..was getting 40-43 mpg before..what a bitch this turned out to be..had to be the o-ring ..even the dealer has seen this before..the guys here at libbys in new haven are alot of help..i gotta find a spare carb somewhere..always like to have one on hand, especially with 2 roadstars here..oh,and brianmac ..glad to have you with us ..thanks for the input, you are dead on ..
