Barnet Clutch Installation 6 Years, 8 Months ago

Just finished putting the SR2 pressure plate conversion on the 02 midnite. The tech article was a really big help. The whole thing was much easier then I had anticipated. I changed to the 6 M6 1.0 X 30mm bolts from the original ones. The only problem that I ran into was that the instructions were very specific about allighnment of the 2 notches on friction plates to the 2 dots on the housing. When I looked at mine they were all over the housing only 1 plate actually lined up with the housing dots. I then went to service manual and it says the same thing, make sure notches on friction plates line up with dots on housing. It totally blew my mind until I realized that dealer had to remove it all to do the recall on transmission. Wasnt really sure if it was that important to allign as that was 12000 miles ago. I checked the friction plate wear tolerances and then put it back together as tech clinic shows and service manual shows. It works great with very little difference in clutch pull. Red lights will make you think of neutral though. Thanks to everyone here for all their great questions and advice.
