For you fellows riding through Chicago for the M&G in June, i can tell you that if you ride through Chicago between the hours of 11:00 Am and 3:00 PM you will find it much less congested. Stay away from I-290, i ride to my brothers all the time in Indiana and i always run I-94 through downtown taking the Kennedy expressway to the northwest tollway towards Rockford. However depending on the time of day, one could take the Edens expressway north staying on I-94 towards Milwaukee and to Kenosha and take Hwy 50 straight west toward Beloit. You will have alot less tolls that way. Plus it is more scenic. I anyone needs detailed directions around Chicago PM me and i will get you around anything. I can even get you to Beloit without having to pay a single toll

Tolls suck! They suck even more when you are on a bike! Unless there is some trick to it?

Hey Darn, not really a trick just good navigating. I know my way around down there pretty good, i should as i hauled cars out of Janesville for 15 years going to Chicago twice a day. I will get you a detailed route coming from different directions minus the toll roads.

Re:2011 Spring Meet & Greet 2 Years, 7 Months ago
My last trip down there was the fall M&G in Arkansas, went right through Beloit. The toll caught me off guard, had to pull over, dig out my wallet, get out a buck, put the buck between my teeth til I got to the booth, pull up, put it in Neutral, hand them the buck, back in gear and go. That sucked, especially because it was raining at the time as well, so I had to go past the rain gear too.

for those planning to ride thru Chicago, maybe we could meet below(in Gary Ind.?) & ride together. There's safety in numbers, or we just start partying sooner

Guessing the $52 + tax is per person based on double occupancy. Gotta start planning.

It was a little over 800 for me to go to the fall Meet & Greet in Eureka Springs Arkansas, I split it into two days, spent the first night at Spudwrench's house in St. Louis Mo.
On the way back, I made it to Lincoln IL., but that's only because I left ES late, had to clean up the trailer, get packed, get gas, then took a wrong turn and a small spill on the way back. So give yourself some time, arrive alive!

Live to Ride, Ride to Live! BTW, Wisconsin is a helmet optional state.
