I'm currently running a Mustang 2-up Tour seat on my R* and hate it.
Anyone here have any first hand knowledge on the Ultimate seats?

I know Corbins CS is terrible, but their seats are comfortable.

Other choices?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Ultimate seat set with drivers back rest for years and love it. I takes a while to get used to and to break in but once it does you will like it. It is high priced though. What is it you don't like about the Mustang seat? The Ultimate does sit you lower and pushes you forward some.

Curt, the Mustang makes me sit too high, and pushes me forward also.
I'm very uncomfortable on long rides with the Mustang.

My Harley has a Corbin, well broke in, and extremely comfortable.
The problem with Corbin is customer service.

I've given thought to an OEM, but no one seems to like them.

I've also had the Ultimate with the driver backrest and the passenger seat for about 4 years. It is the best seat I've ever had. I can ride over 500 miles at a time without any problems. The driver backrest is great and is easily removable. On the driver backrest post is a horizontal notch for installing and holding the seat in place, I cut this section off, approx a 1" piece from the post end, to allow the backrest to be moved 1" closer to the back of the bike. This allows me some rearward movement away from the tank. The backrest is also adjustable for angles of your back. The passenger seat is wider so any passengers will love it more than the OEM pillion.

If you get one, order the rain covers too, they are helpful on a roadtrip and protect your seat foam from damage due to moisture or rain.

I bought the ultimate pass & driver sets last yr,it's pricey but well worth the cost IMHO.

And as already stated there is a breakin period for the seats so don't judge a new ultimate seat until you get some time/miles on it.

OEM seats have a plastic layer/liner between the foam & cover to protect the foam

dthorny....sounds good, and I'll be sure to get the rain covers.

scottw....I'm leaning toward the solo, and price is not much different
than Mustang.

FYI:

I asked Ultimate about the cost of replacing seat foam and they said $150 which includes shipping back to you.


The OEM seat is water resistant, The Ultimate seat is not and the foam could get damaged in the rain.


deadweight: Like everyone else has said already, give it a couple hundred mile break in period and you'll be grinning too.
