Ok I want to up the pony's a bit and was wondering what would be a good place to start? Currently have stock carb, ported manifold, BAK, iridium plugs, road burner double eagle exhaust.

Is there a simmple place to start or should I look at a 42 carb? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

John

From what I've read here, I think a 42 would be my next step. I think it was Starkruzen that got one from Maxair all decked out with his TPS and ready to go. I don't think it was cheap, but it was bolt-on and ready to go.

I'm sure he'll chime in.

Well, you didn't mention whether you had done a carb rejetting; and you could probably benefit from a Dyna 3000 ignition module to bump the timing, and increase the rev limiter. Also, if that exhaust isn't a two-into-one, one of those will help, too.

With those three things, and a true dynomometer tune, you'd probably wake the beast up enough to put a smile on your face.

check with sscustoms, I think he has better pricing then maxair, and I feel he does better in setting it up. tho he does not offer the tps mod, there is someone on the RSR forum who does it, and has been doing it much longer than max and bucks less as well.

Should have mentioned 2006 1700 and yes rejet after BAK and new exhaust. The 3000 will not help on the 1700 much and a 2 into 1 is not an option since I dont care for them. I thought the 42 carb would be next unless I want to dig into the engine with cam and so on. Was looking at the 42 but didnt know how much gain I could expect from it and if I had the extra $5k a turbo would be nice lol.

what are you expecting to get? anything over 75hp and 98tq you'll have to go into the engine. If the carb is tuned correctly, then you're maxed with the tq band, the 42 won't give you anymore of that, but might give ya an extra 2 ponies. Like said, into the engine you go.

wisco 10.5/1 pistons better then the je pistons(lighter higher compression better polish finish smaller skirts) that patick racing sells and while in the top end have the heads ported and polished and have the valves triple cut. dynatek3000 will help the 1700 with the power cure as well.

Smoke, if ya go to the Yamaha site, under the "Speedstar" accessories area. if you look at the different stages they show the dyna runs that they did. Even at a Stage 4, they only go into the 90's hp range. To get more, then I think you need to go big bore 110 or better.

here's the stage 4
