Which S&S? 1 Year ago
Hi all, I have a 2004 Silverado with "stage 1" drilled stock pipes and ais removed. I am wanting to fit an S&S teardrop air filter like I did on my Vulcan 1500 ten years afo. S&S are not quite as as patriotic (snobbish?)as then, when the only information they sent in response to my email regarding filters was "our products only fit Harley Davidson". Red rag to a bull, I ordered a kit, made an airbox and sent them a photo of it! But they still don't make a kit for us.
So now my question for the cognoscentii is, which S&S cycle air filter is best for the Roadstar? I am not concerned with mountings, fittings etc., just put it where you want and fill in the blank spaces. But as regards airflow, I will be changing the pipes and up-jetting at the same time, so does anyone have a good personal recommendation for a particular kit or set of parts?
Thanks in advance.

I am in England, I can get S&S stuff here but not Thunder Mfg. I am happy to make my own adapters / mounts, just wondering which of the actual S&S filters was most suitable for the roadstar engine.

Thanks for all info. Looking at S&S site there are several super e filters, I am guessing the only differences are the ones which, to me, are irrelevant? i.e. any super e/g will have the same filter element, just fit different HD models? So I could buy whichever was available? Thanks again for the help, will be asking more dumb questions later.

Like I said, not interested in adapter kits or plates, just the actual S&S teardrop air filter and cover. I can easily adapt the right one to fit, but was asking if anyone had a definitive answer as to which was the best S&S teardrop filter, in terms of airflow, to suit a 2004 1700 with aftermarket pipes and jetted carb.

I have the S&S cover installed on mine with a K&N filter, but I can remember what the part # is for the filter. The only #'s on the filter is a606a6 and a606b6. Hope that helps...
