TIRES 11 Months ago
Time to replace the rear tire on my '07 Roadstar - I would like to go BIG - what's the largest tire I can run? Is there a downside to upsizing? Handling? Road noise? Vibration? Etc? Thanks!

If you wanna keep the stock rim you can only go 160 . Or go darkside.

Yes a wider tire will feed back more road vibrations to the bike (more tire covering more surface) Handling should be better to a point.

And there is always the "Darkside"

I can never figure why anyone would want to go to a wider tire other than looks. Wider doesn't handle any better, is more weight so less mileage and cost more money. To me is just the same as buying those skinny little rubber band size tire for cars. I happen to like the way she handles with the OEM size tires myself.

Thanks to all...yeah, it's about looks as much as anything...now, I've looked on the forum to learn about the DarkSide, but it's still not clear...what are we talking about?

Re:TIRES 11 Months ago
i need tires soon and was thinking 150 in the back and 150 up front - does that work (like a Royal Star)?

Is it better to go 160 in the back with a 150 up front?

Re:TIRES 11 Months ago
I switched from stock sizes to a 160 in back with a 150 up front. LOVED the difference in handling. It may be a bit less maneuverable, but definitely feels more stable. I think the big front made all the difference. Not sure how much difference (if any) the wider rear made.
