Transfer Case Oil 1 Year, 10 Months ago
I'm going to change my transfer case oil soon and was just wondering if there is anything I need to know about oil. Manual suggests SAE 80 API Gl-4 Hypoid Gear Oil. I notice you can buy synthetic gear oil. Should I go for the synthetic as long as it meets/exceeds API standards? Anything else to be aware of? I'm just thinking of the friction reduction additives that we steer clear of in our engine oil. Anything like that to watch for with transfer case oil?
thanks
woody

Been using AmsOil 80/90 GL-5 synthetic since first change. Over 40K on the bike with no issues at all. I pay about $9 a quart and thats good for 2 changes.

I will just go by the manual and do initial change at 600 miles then every 16k or 24 months.
