Here is mine. I bought the lights off ebay. Looks much better in person. The blues are so bright!

Well since I am so determined to keep up with the Jones's I have been looking around at LED's and found some that I think are pretty cool. They are four LED pods that are Chrome and can be secured with double sided tape or the really cool part they have been designed with a notch in the housing to accept a zip tie. They come in a square shape or wedge (in-line) shape. Each piece comes with a pre-cut piece of tape, a zip tie, and 48 inches of 22 gauge black wire.

I just happened to stop in at this local electronics store to see if they had anything. Well, the guy who owns the place is a motorcycle nut. He got tired of trying to adapt all of these generic LED's to a motorcycle specific application, so he went out and designed his own and actually got a patent on them. Long story short, I bought six pods from him, came home and went to work. The way these are designed made installation a breeze. The 48 in. of wire on each pod was enough that I didn't have to add any extra. I had them on wired and if I had not had to go to the store to get the switch I thought I already had, I would have been done with this in about an hour and a half. Here are some pics, they are not very good but not bad for being taken in the garage in the middle of the day.

If anyone is interested in these I struck a deal with the guy while I was there,
if I buy these 10 at a time I can get them for $10 each. They come in eight different colors. Red, Yellow, Green, Jade, White, Blue, Purple, and Pink.
Let me know if you want some and I'll start making a list.

Post edited by: slowpoke, at: 2007/06/29 15:44

Doc, I did, rather on the chrome fender trim, but have since taken that one off, same with the one by the rear wheel. The blue lights are the brightest. My engine is so bright, I could wrench on it at night.

10.00 is a little high for the light IMO, I gave like 3.50 for mine, they have 5 or 6 lights in each chrome bezel. Their popularity is driving the price up.

hey Slowpoke, see if the guy has some demonstrations of Green and Jade. I've pondered doing this for ages but never really break down and do it because part of me thinks it is silly. On the other hand seeing the photos here "brightens" my spirit if you'll forgive the pun.

That looks cool and maybe some day I will do the same. Just a note you all have probably already thought about, but have to mention as I had a friend that got a little trouble from the local constable for blue lights facing forward. At least in Florida a blue light cannot face forward of be visible forward on a vehcile other than a Police vehicle. Red facing forward is also illegal as it could be construed as a brake light or emergency vehicle other than Police. Keep the red and blue lights well under the tank and you will probably be OK. My buddy had his mounted under the tank bet near the front and it was visible through the forks in front. A Police officer pulled him over and gave him a "fix it" ticket.

I bought the same lights from Advance Auto Parts. They were about 14 dollars. I mounted 4 under the tank shining down on the chrome, two on each side. Then I mounted four under the bike along the frame 2 per side. I didnt have to remove anything to put them on and you still cant see any wires anywhere or a light till they're on. The ones I put on it were blue. Tiny metal toggle switch at the left rear of the tank underneath where I can reach under and flip it. Looks great after dark.

I picked up a set of blue (8) lights at Auto Zone for $14+tax, a mini-switch and inline fuse at electronic store along with a solder gun for under $10. I atached the switch to the tank bolt on the left side using a small stainless steel pad eye left over from my sailing days. I put the light facing down along the frame under the tank and a couple aimed back towards the front of the engine at the steering neck. It looks cool to me and I get comments from others about it. The comments I like the best are, "You paid what? Damm, yours look as good as mine and I droped close to $200."
