New guy from northrn lower Michigan. 1 Year, 10 Months ago
I've been reading this site for the last couple of years and decided to register. Perhaps from time to time I can contribute a few bits and pieces of knowledge taught and bread by experience that could perhaps be helpful to others.

This is my 41st year of motorcycling with both on and off-road motorcycles. Since the summer of 1970 I've owned, ridden, and wrenched
2-BSAs, 1-Norton, 2-H-Ds, 1-Kawasaki, 2-Hondas, and 3-Yamahas. My current scooters are a 2001 Honda XR650L and a 2009 Yamaha Road Star.

Living in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan, I find myself in motorcycling heaven. My Honda easily handles the thousands of miles of two-tracks and "seasonal" dirt roads found here, while the Road Star shows me the vistas of our great pine woods and abundant lakes and rivers.

My Road Star is far and away the best road/cruiser type bike I've ever owned. It's not a touring bike although it could be easily. For service, ride, handling, performance, reliability, and overall appearance, in my opinion, the machine has few peers. The closest bike I've owned was a new 1990 H-D FLHTC. It was the second and last H-D I dare say I'll likely ever own. In a word it was the lack of 'reliability' that's made me skeptical off H-Ds in general. Enough said!

In my experience, ya' just can not beat Japanese bikes. For cost, ease of maintenance, dealer/parts availability, and most importantly reliablilty, they have no equal.

This is a great site and I'm happy to be a part of it!

Welcome TTP, to the Clinic.

Good choice in present bikes. I've had a XR600R that I made street legal and have been looking for another one. They wheelie much easier than the Roadie does.

from Battle Ground Wa. New Roadie owner meself, but it looks like it is shaping up to be a fine bagger for taking those long rides or knocking around town either one.

I have kept two or three bikes in the last two years and I may pick up another one when I see it at the right price.
