Did Stage 1 to stock exhaust!! 4 Years, 8 Months ago
I drilled out the stock exhaust, as explained in the Tech Tips here and I LOVE IT!!!Outstanding Sound!! I will eventually get aftermarket pipes, but for the time being, this is Outstanding!!! At least people can hear me coming!! Even my "Harley" friends were impressed!! Took only 2 hours for the whole thing!!Left the Mufflers on the Bike (did not take them off as instructed).. Try it... You will like it for sure!!

Was that Frank? I thought a thunderstorm was comin'. I was thinking after my initial break-in period, I'll be doing the same thing. It's good to hear you like it that much, Frank. I live next door to a policeman, so it should be interesting.

OK, I'm torn here. I don't want the fender shaking "BBBBLLLLLAAATTTT" that some of the bikes I've heard get, but the "PFPFPFPFFFFFFFF" sound I'm getting from my stock pipes seem a bit....un-masculine (if that's even a word). Can a guy have it both ways?

I just want a little punch to the sound. Would the stage one mod. do it for me?

Welcome to the Clinic Mark

You have choices. You can start at stage 1 and if that doesn't do it you can go to stage 2. Neither stage is real loud IMO but a big improvement over stock. Or you can get aftermarket pipes that aren't real loud and keep your stock pipes stock just in case.

I have a 07 Road* did the 4 holes but didn't like pfpft sound so instead of adding 4 more holes slotted each hole to about 1 inch and that stopped the pfpfpft sound now it sounds great even my HD friendsare jealous.

What did you use to slot the holes? That is, what tool did you use?

You can use a dremel to make the holes into slots.
