Did John charge you the $10 to ship the $15 plug? Just seems a little steep to me...

Of course not.

But I stopped by and picked it up myself

If you're in the US then I think it's probably in line. He has to pay for the cost of shipping, the envelope and if he has to go to the PO, for the cost of transporation.

I bought a $20 HDMI cable the other day from a US company and they charged $10 for shipping.
