Rode a full tank out today 1 up. Worked out to about 36 mpg. I was not trying to wring every mpg out of the bike. We also rode in the city a good bit. I was riding with a pair of HD Fatboys, so I kind of rode hard honestly. Didn't want them to think my Roadie was lacking in the HP dept So I am thinking my bike is fine. I will however, go over the bike next week when I hae some time off.

Gas mileage is also affected by the amount of ethanol in the gas you are using. Here in AZ all fuel pumps have a label that states "may contain up 10% ethanol" which in reality it should read "may reduce your mileage by 10%"

Is that so???? I never really gave that any thought. We also have the 10% Ethanol labels on all our pumps. I never knew ethanol killed mileage like that

It all comes down the amount of BTU's available in the fuel. Alcohol requires you to jet large to get your horsepower back.

Since I put the Ported Intake Manifold on that CURT did up for me. I have to stop every 30 miles and drain some gas out, my MPG's are so good after about 50 miles gas starts to pour out the vented fuel cap.

And Scott W your text came out blury on my screen can you type that out again?

I don't keep up with my mileage, If I was worried about gas mileage I would have bought a 49cc scooter. But Capt Sonny tracks every gal/mile. (not sure why??) and he has discovered that the % ethenol to mileage is pretty much true. If you have 10% ethenol you have roughly 10% reduction in mileage 20% ethenol 20% reduction ect. Although, like I said I don't track it, but I can tell the difference from 10% and no ethenol just by how long a tank lasts. Also, My old A## needs to get off and be walked around and rubbed LONG before I run a tank out.

I'm CONFUSED DYNO? [A Device used to test vehicle Horsepower''Torque.''and SOMETIMES!!!!!!Exhaust values?] this some how tell ya what jet ya should be running I have used dyno on bikes that I have build the motor on ,to see what ''horsepower''''Torque''' I have gained by adding bigger pistons ect;ect; I think in my opinion it a waste of money to do it to stock bike Hell Yamaha tells ya the horsepower ya have and exhaust maker list what horsepower will be added to motor on them JONA!!! JONA!!! JONA!!!I can't explain jetting any better then has been explained in this posting

Not to belabour the point, however, AFR's....Air/Fuel Ratio's....a Dyno run will also give you these, and, it is with this information you will be informed as how to jet properly for either performance or economy....back to my basic question, you stated....add a larger main jet, my question was, how will a larger main jet improve this mans MPG???
