Hi Bruce - I have done two complete custom bikes and related wiring. The first one I got everything to work but the starter. I finally gave up and paid to have it finished. On this last one I bit the bullet and stuck with it until the damn thing finally started. Took me over a week working on it off and on. I have a few diagrams that I got on the forums that might help you some but you definitely need the service manual and it's diagrams (and a magnifying glass). If you want to email me I'll give you any info I can but as far explaining what I did it ain't gonna happen! <BFG>

Hey Marty,

Any chance you might put together a tech tip about what you learned with the wiring? Something we could put into the tech articles section?

Hi Gram - Man, explaining to others what I did when I don't know how I did it in the first place might be a real trick! <BG> I have a sketch or two that show the minimum wires needed from the ignitor (ignition module) to make the bike run. I believe it came from Tommy who used to frequent the RSR before selling his R*. I'll look through the stuff I have but honestly all I basically did was to make large copies of the diagrams highlight the different circuits in different colors and then followed diagram. I honestly don't think this something you can explain to someone how to do. Can I email the diagrams I have to you and see if they are something we might be able to use here?

That just might be enough to get it started Marty. WE have a couple of tech articles that were meant to be living articles that were added to over time by the membership. They kind of grew as we learned more. If you have time to send me what you have that would be great. Address is gram at roadstarclinic.com . Btw... Loving your latest bike Really nice work. I wish I lived close enough to try and talk you into some frame work on my next project.

Re:roadstar wiring!!! 1 Year, 2 Months ago
There are plenty who have done it but every bike is wired differently depending on what's being used and what's being eliminated and it's basically just a matter of following the wiring diagram for the circuits being used. I don't think it's possible to talk someone through the wiring of custom bike. I had the diagrams, a spare uncut harness to keep referring to and another Road Star to check out along the way as needed and still struggled with it.
