Yea, if it was running fine and then started this problem, don't start rejetting that is not the problem.... and altitude has nothing to do with it! I assume you are running the stock CV carb... except for jetting? Air leak more than likely!

I'm not saying this caused your sudden change of mileage. I'm pretty sure everyone is on the right track there with an air leak. However, while I know you said you cleaned the air filter, but if you have one of those OEM cheap paper filters that come with the bike, you might think about changing that out. They get clogged up and blowing them out doesn't work very well. They'll still restrict air flow, cutting down your milage. I was surprised at the difference when I changed mine out to a K & N.

Just one less thing to worry about.

Give it the ol' starting fluid spray around the carb & manifold joints while it's running without getting any into the air intake. It will pick up the smallest of vacuume leak. When the engine increases rpm, that's the spot.

It doesnt make much sence, with a dj-160 it should have been way to lean from the very start, something else has happened, the equivilent mikuni is a 150,I am pretty sure I,ve never heard of running that small a main w/o problems, I went down 1 size from dj-190 to mikuni 172.5 very limited change. good luck.

Its a long shot on that but it could have happend. I'll go with that cause everyone is saying your main is to lean anyhow.

I know I was casing a air leak all summer and went thru H--L hunting it down. Turned out my exhaust valves are leaking.

With the stock airbox and exhaust DJ actually recommends the 160 main for a 1600. If the bike is fairly old you might check the coasting enricher for cracks which would cause a vacuum leak.

So, why do you think it's lean?

It would help a lot if you would fill out your profile. Bike year, air filter type, exhaust type, jetting, etc.
