This reliable Beretta Jetfire .22 Short pistol is a personal favorite of mine and I am never without it. It saved my life a few years ago when attacked by a Grizzly while hiking in the mountains with a family member. I was able to escape, walking at a brisk pace, after I shot my brother-in-law in the knee.

Now THAT'S FUNNY

There's a lot of benefit to pitching chum in the way of a predator. If the chum is an in/outlaw, what the hey!

I carry a XDm 40,16+1, in a Old Faithful IWB at about 3:30, it's very comfortable for being a larger pistol. oldfaithfulholsters.com They are very nice holsters, and they are very reasonably priced. Around $40 if you finish putting them together yourself.

I carry a XD-45 at the 3:30 spot in a Crossbreed supertuck holster. It's comfortable and a long tail shirt won't ride up and show it at speed.

Straight in front (your belly button) is 12:00 and your back end crack is 6:00 on your hips. It is where people carry their sidearm, some inside the waistband and other in a holster inside or outside the waistband. What ever feels best is the best place to carry as long as you can access it quickly and easily if need be. As for me I carry two, one on iwb at 3:30 and a bug on my left anckle.

Sooo..thanks for all the posts...it's been real interesting..I've been a handgun admirer since I was quite young..I say admirer because here in Canada, firearms are so restricted that handguns are too much hassle to even own...1st if you want one you have to pass a restricted course..then you can own but that's all..next, if you want to transport..you have to permit each time and then only to a qualified gun range directly there and directly back home again..stops along the way could be a big hassle.
I chuckle to think if anyone were to carry a handgun on their person and not locked up in a certified handgun lock box...while transporting and were spotted, stopped and/or checked what the consequences would be....
On the other hand....long guns are quite common. I had a trap line a number of years ago and my territory was in an area known for grizzlies. As a trapper and a POL permit I was legal to carry a 12 gauge pump with the shortest barrel legal. I was trapping for black bear as well as other fur bearing critters...but not Grizzlies (that's illegal) A combo of SSG and Slug rounds kept me reassured as I tended my trap line...I was greatful that I never had to use it.

It may be a touchy subject and I don't want to start anything...but has anyone here every actually needed to draw their weapon? That is excepting LEO's. Just curious.
