Stumped with the Speedometer 6 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey All,

I have looked through all of the other old posts and I was wondering if anyone had anything else to add before I suck it up and drop the 700 for a new speedometer.

Odometer works
Fuel gauge works
Neutral light Works
Gas light Works

Speedometer dead on zero... I have taken off the seat and gas tank and tried cleaning all connections with an eraser as well as electronic cleaner, I also took apart the speedometer unit itself to look at the board. I did not notice any cracks or loose wire connections.

I have had trouble locating the speedometer cable my noob self cant seem to find it? Does it hook up the the front or rear tire? Any advice would be great thanks.

Thanks for the help

Is there an easy way to get the side covers off I noticed it was all one piece and looked compact to get into?

Side covers are in three pieces...the left side should come off with the one bolt.

If diagnostics show you need a new speedo i have seen used ones in working cond go for approx $175-200
on ebay .

Also, there are mult used motorcycle parts type junk yards in the US too, just google use motorcycle parts and they will come up,the simply call a few to see what avail & prices are for used speedo clusters for the R*.

I saw an NOS cluster that was for an 06 R* (mines an 06!) sill in original yami box & packaging on ebay so scaped it up quick as a spare for only $150 which was a great price vs $650-700 i saw they cost on a Yami website the other day.
