#437890 wilbur1861 (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 99 fuel pump relocation 1 Year, 6 Months ago   I have threaded before about relocation. under the tank and side panel. my pump has intake and out on the same end. Tried, but just couldn't get it to work. I came up with an idea thats so simple, there has got to be something wrong with it. take out the useless tool kit and the pump and filter lay side by side perfectly using the existing connecting hose between the two. Just extend the connector wire and one hose to the tank and one to carb. Use the existing heat springs to protect hose going to carb. easy access to change filter and pump. Everything is located away from the motor heat. I can always find a place to carry some tools and the worst case is I blow my ass off. It would make sense since it will be away from the motor heat and easier access. What I like about the tech artical about moveing your fuel pump is that it leaves quite a bit up to you to figure out. For me it could have been a 4 beer job, but I turned it into a 12 beer job. Next will be the flip and grind. Don't know whats worse - figuring out these bikes or how to post a pic. Haven't hooked up hoses yet, but just a matter of running them under the tank. Condensation can build up behind the plastic end cap and eventually ruin the mechanism housed under there. The fix I've read about is to drill a hole in the bottom of the cap so condensation can drain out. There is absolutely no reason to keep the fuel pump on a carb bike. It runs just fine without it, and it's tits easy to do.
