COBRA SLIP ON'S 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
HAVE A 2007 1700 AND BUT A PAIR OF COBRA SLIP ON'S ON IT. SOUNDS FINE WHEN RUNNING THROUGH THE GEARS BUT WHEN CRUISING AT 70 THEY SOUND LIKE A JOHN DEERE OLD POPPING JOHNNY. ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS OR HAS ANY ONE MODIFIED THESE. THIS IS THE FIRST JAP BIKE I HAVE OWNED, AND AM PLEASED WITH IT BY THE WAY, BUT AM TRYING TO GET BACK MY OLD HARLEY SOUND. IS THIS POSSABLE OR DO I JUST BUY ANOTHER HD?

If you want it to sound like a Harley get another Harley.

Each and every Harley has there own sounds from a Knuckle and a Pan to a Shovel, Evo to a Twin Cam, add pipes and none of them are going to be the same. The Roadstar sounds similar to a Harley like a Harley sounds similar other Harleys. If your bike is popping maybe because of the AIS.

I have an '05 with Cobra slip-ons. AIS is removed. I don't sound like a tractor while cruising. Don't sound like a Harley either. But a hit of the throttle will scare the shit out of the deer.

He was only joking, were here to help. I ride both American and Jap bikes. The AIS is the pump that goes to your jugs and injects air, you can buy plugs to block the holes in the jugs and remove the pump and that usually clears up the popping. Read this.
