well i ordered the lights 2 day ago and they just showed up today so as far as shiping time goes www.superbrightleds.com get a A+
first the neo3 is the size for our speedo lights (but man is it a tight fit for the led ones) here is the stock lamp and led side by side (left is stock right is led)
now here is a pic of the speedo with stock lighting now there is now doubt that they are brighter but as erbman02 stated he wondered about the viewing angle. and yes the bulb makes hot spots and doesn't bleed out the light evenly as a incandesent bulb does i split the speedo in two colors left was white right was blue
the hot spots was a deal breaker for me so i just put the regular bulbs back in. so it sucks for me but now you know what to expect

Them's BRITE!!!
And where the hot spots are, on the backside of the speedo face, it is heavily shaded to block the standard lamps, Amazing how much the LED's bleed thru.
I think to use LED's, would have to use either less bright or diffused, and probably have to do some mod. I have a couple idea's that might work, but not the desire to do the experimenting. Would have to do some minor soldering carefully tho. Gluing a LED strip in place as well.
Maybe some plastic material between the led and speedo face, like what they use for fluorescent light fixtures to diffuse the lamps?

I have to agree with you, that looks pretty bad.. Thanks for the heads up, maybe I should move this thread to the tech tips so folks will see what not to do.......

Thanks for taking one for the team Smokes. The hot spots is definitely a deal breaker.

Did you try to adjust the brightness?

LED lamps are a current driven device. If you limit the current, you can limit the brightness. But you won't lower the brightness much before you reduce the forward current enough to turn off the LED. The best way to adjust the brightness of an LED is through pulse width modulation. That will turn on and off the LED so fast your eye will see it as a dimming of the LED.
It will work, but it sounds like a pain.

I think the problem that they experienced is due to the physical size of the leds. If the lens is right up next to the item to be illuminated there will be "hot" spots of light. Also some leds come with diffused lenses where viewing angle is not important. The lenses look milky instead of crystal clear.
This was copied straight from the the manufacturers website.

If I install LED bulbs in the dash, will the dimmer still work?
Yes, LED bulbs will dim with your dash light intensity control

you can try sanding the lens down to diffuse the light more. The lens on the LED shoots the light forward like projector lens do on a headlight and does not diffuse it like incandescent bulb.
