If the passenger seat is important than look at one that has a wide and well padded section. I had a Corbin Dual Tour for a few years and did a 2500 mile road trip with it and my lady friend on the back fell asleep many times and raved how comfortable it was. I think Mustang and Ultimate are great options as well because both pillions are wide and extremely well padded. Its also important than you're comfortable too because if you're doing a long trip you dont want to be squirming around which would make your wife feel a little un-easy I would think, cheers....

Think maybe your subject should read "Seat Preference and why?" Not everyones body type is suited for the same seat. Im a Corbin guy because it sits me back further and "into" the bike more than other seats. That's not to dis-credit a Mustang or an Ultimate for example because I've sat on both and both are great seats, they're just not for me. When buying a seat you should evalute it on what fits you best not what others perception of what brand is better than the next, my .02c

That takes alot research and having friends that have roadstars with all the various types of seats you are interested in...because each seat will sit differently on each bike, and thats why the criteria would only be limited to roadstars in our case...I like mustang myself but thats only my opinion...

I agree it takes some research and experimenting but to ask the question of which seat is better than the next accomplishes nothing because we're all different in body structure and what we prefer when it comes to comfort and needs in a seat. I currently have a Saddlemen Profiler on my bike because I think it looks cool and my riding is limited to weekends this time of year with the weather and limited daylight. Would I go on a long ride with it? Hell no!! 2 hours max for that type of seat. It's a subjective question and to simply go out and drop $500-700 on a seat based on others opinion of what they like only to find out it's not the seat for you would be a waste of time and money, cheers....Major

Three different sizes to choose from from E.D. A 15 day no hassle return warranty. 1 year warranty on everything else. And all day comfort. What do you have to loose? except a sore bum. So if you want to try one let me know.
PS: I will be posting later with pics a Standard E.D. seat with studs for $325 shipped anywhere in the us. This is a brand new seat with warranty mentioned above, at a $30 or more discount over ordering direct because shipping from Canada {home of E.D. seat company} is not cheap.

Can't comment on the ED seat as I have had a Ultimate 4 piece setup for two years now and love it.It has held up well looks new still and I can ride foom fillup to empty without arrs pain.Plus the back rest is awsome which I really think helps with lower back strain as it helps one not slouch in the saddle.I'm sure the ED is a great saddle too but was not around when I bought my Ultimate.I was able to ride my friends Roadie with the Ultimate before I invested the $'s in one.Whatever you choose it sure beats the hell out of the stocker.I called that the 50 mile seat as I was in big pain by then.

Bought 2000 3 1/2 years ago and it came with Ultimate 4 piece set and also stock seat set. Don't really like either set as both are uncomfortable for long trips for me. Bought higher support back rest to help with wife's back soreness but no help. Only thing that helps my back is drivers back rest otherwise both seats kill me.Was looking at a way to modify bike to accept Venture seat(touring) .Or will get Venture or other touring bike (depending on wife)
