A nice project and a good choice. Those old XS650s were great machines. I rode an old friends a few times and it always impressed me as easily being a better real world bike than my old Triumph.

Very nice, 3UP. Love the rear tire on that one...

Here's an update on what bars I finally decided on. They're Frisco style with an internal throttle and internal cluch mechanism. Should keep the bars pretty clean. I'm hunting now for a front master cylinder that has the switches/buttons built in for the horn button.

Danny:

I'm going back and forth on a couple of things until I get the look I like.

It'll probably be back on there a few more times before I'm done...

I know... I just couldn't warm up to them... I think the tank just sits too low.

Looking sweet. Picking up the 79 Special II later this year. Gonna probably do a resto-Mod job and keep it pretty stoctk, since it was dad's, and he's always been a Standard style owner/rider from the Honda 90, the Ducati 250 scrambler, KZ400 (four), 500 Suzuki Titan, 750 Norton, GS1000, and the XS650.
