I do see the Speedstar Throttle Body and High FLow Intake Manifold sold as a set online for Roadstar 2008 & up- Pricing is steep at $760.. Part # 5VN-THRTL-IM-00. I can't seem to find much more information on performance impact to the bike or whether requires additional upgrades (in addition to air & pipes) to take advantage? Anyone familiar?

besides the throttle body, you need the speedstar cams they are the same cams the warrior used for the speedstar stage III upgrade, the Speedstar Cam Springs, again, the same as the warrior. and the HC Pistons, again same as the warrior. the three listed items are hard to find because the warrior community snatched them up fast. the only thing left that can be found is the throttle body and intake manifold and that is because warrior has a split throttle body system.

I have all the parts in my possession, it took me a year of patience to aquire them. The guy selling the speedstar throttle body with manifold lists at 760.00 he does take offers, I was turned down at 400 but he countered at 450 witch I accepted.

I have an '09 Silverado and I installed the Inovate MTX-L. I have Samson draggs with home made baffles and a BAK for intake.

I wanted to see what the reading on the bike was. Of course there are different ways to go about it, but I preferred to install the wide band sensor as a stand alone unit with the A/F monitor.
I did the install on both cylinders and here's what I found out.
The ECM seems pretty forgiving, I found no lean condition at all. I found the front cylinder a slight bit leaner than the back cylinder, I don't know whats up with that unless there is a tiny difference in the size of an injector opening, but the difference is negligible.

I didn't bother to re-stall the stock stuff to get a reading because I saw no use in it. I ain't gonna put it back on anyhow.

The Inovate is a little expensive, by the time I bought everything to install it on the fairing it came to $227.00 and change.

I have no idea how robust the unit is, but it was worth it too me to settle the questions in my mind.
However long it lasts I can see the computer doing its thing. As someone said the plugs look good and they tell a good story, but I'm a tech head whos just gotta see the numbers.

I think the Inovate A/f monitor would be great for tuning carbed bikes especially.

As for performance, if you get the baffles tuned to your engine she really gets up and goes, I get what I expected out of a 1700 cc bike.
Bout all I can tell you.

Samson gave the link to Inovate so won't double up here. I am impressed by the quality of the unit which don't mean spit.

Pigpen - without the cams and pistons would the manifold and throttle body have any performance impact to the bike (if the bike already had pipes and BAK)

River - I've been checking out that innovate unit. I also came across a dual unit from vGauge and debating whether or not to monitor both cylinders. http://www.vgauges.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=93. The Vguage dual unit is $99 and the Bosch O2 sensors are $70ea so it gets you up to $260 or so but for a gadget guy I think its pretty cool...

I'm glad to hear your not running lean with your setup. I've read a number of posts from folks skeptic of the lean condition and a Power Commander, etc. requirement. I tend to think the stock unit needs to have more flexibility to accommodate various air temperature and pressure differences then Cobra, Dynojet, etc. would lead you to believe..

I am curious to see the readings on the stock setup and how they will differ if any once I install the pipes and BAK...

The speedstar throttle body is 45mm, which is significanly larger than the stock throttle body, also the new intake manifold is much larger as well.

My take would be to gain the true benefit of this throttle body is the addition of hc pistons with some stronger valve springs. with that I would expect a beneficial gain. add the cams and the gain will be significant enough to justify the expense.

hope that helps

It looks like the unit you linked to would be a fair unit, one thing I was concerned with was dampness. The Inovate unit is supposed to be water resistant, I don't guess that means I can pressure wash it, but somewhat water resistant was all the answer I could get out of them.

I would be curious to see what it reads with the stock stuff on the bike too and hope you will share with us us whatever unit you choose.

My soul purpose in getting the A/f monitor was the lean question with mods. If you wanted the Inovate you could order an extra bung with a plug they offer for 9.00 at the same time, then if you wanted to monitor the other cylinder you could just unplug the cord and screw it in.

I am happy with what I see the ECM doing. In my own ignorant opinion the lean thing is a bunch of hogwash, but that may change if the engine gets a little hot such as stop and go traffic on a hot day.
I ran the bike through all kinds of conditions, city, superslab and country. I ran temps on the heads, cylinders and oil lines with an expensive assed temp sensor and I saw nothing out of line.

Right now I am having snow, then flooding so not much chance to ride.
Good luck with your endeavors sir.

Thought I'd post a pic as a follow up to this thread. After much debate on where and how to mount this gauge finally was able to make a bracket and mount it to the bars.. I borrowed my oil temp gauge bar clamp and ordered another... Here's how it came out..
