bigdaddy, i have seen and heard pipes like you are talking about. they are called "Peace Makers". They do sound great when the valves areopened, and near stock volume when closed. talking to the guys i have met that have then they said there is a good increase in proformance when they are open as well, their only complaint is that there is a consiterable drop in power when they are closed, one even said it was below stock powerwhen closed. but yes they do work on the volume side similarly to your "drop pipes". i hope this helps some, take care. Sorry I'm not that good with a computer. Weight Loss? Well I certainly need it HA HA.

What I did first was to drill holes, then I took a hole saw to remove the entire metal(which I drilled out)and they got even louder. I stopped by a muffler shop to have him complete the job (I burned up my drill). What I ultimately want is to cut back the exhaust pipes inside the big 4" pipes, leave the cats and the EXUP Value and 02 sensor to hopefully supply enough back pressure. When I took off the whole rear portion and ran it with straight exhaust it was too loud and a lot of backfiring upon de-acceleration under load. HA HA I have GOT to get my daughter over hear to show me how to post this kind of stuff on my-space or you tube.

I have a 99 Roadstar and went to the stage 3 mod. Oh man, love the sound. I have only a slight backfire in deceleration when the bike is cold. I love the stock look, so this is it for me

What I'm finally gonna do is to have a guy at the muffler cut out everything around the actual small tail pipe. Then see how far back he can go into the large exhaust opening and either cut out the small exhaust pipe or do the stage 3 thing and elimate it. That will leave me the 02 sensor ,the EXUP valve and the cats in place if it doesn't run then I'll see if I'll have to buy new pipes and a pc

I am thinking about going to stage 3 I have a 2000 Road* and was curious if you had to do any work to the carb (rejet it). I was thinking about going to stage 3 cause I have a problem hope you guys can help. I did stage 1 I drilled through the cone and the baffle I drilled four 1/2 in holes in each pipe and it sounded ok. Then I got smart or maybe stupid I wanted louder (by the way I don't see a second baffle when I look through the excisting holes I just see the part that is suppose to stay it has the four holes the thing where the pipe is welded to the part you are suppose to twist it a break it loose from I hope this makes sense). Now back to my problem I drilled through the excisting holes in the cone and drilled more holes in the baffle now I have this annoying vibration on my floor boards and the passenger foot pegs that tickle your feet it was not there before I drilled the holes I also had this vibration up at my tank but I drilled four more holes in the cones of both pipes the vibration on the tank is lots better but not the floor boards. Any ideas I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.

Hello all Drill the Stock Exhaust (stage 1, 2, 3) 7 Months, 4 Weeks ago  
I apalogize I failed to introduce myself, I am a newbie here and I have read a lot of great information truly enjoy this site. I posted originally with a problem about vibration under the "Drill the Stock Exaust" I have to say I am still concerned about it but the more I ride the more I get use to it. Still curious however if you guys think it maybe because of the drilling I did and if going to stage 3 might eliminate the vibration. I bought my 2000 Road* from a guy a work with and I have been in love with it from the first time I rode it. Once again just wanted to introduce myself and thank you for a great site to visit!!!

I did the stage 3 and I want just a little more sound. would it help to remove or drill more holes into the baffle plate that houses the biggest pipe? would this create a large loss of back pressure and require re-jetting, I have the stock jet set up.
