Okay... curious. Just what kind of monthly income would an ex-pat American need to live well there???

I truly am giving serious consideration to leaving the U.S., but I hadn't given a thought to Thailand before now.

My thoughts were ranging south, toward ex-pat communities in Mexico or Central America... and maybe South America.

Wherever I go, Road Stars must be accepted, and even somewhat encouraged!

A good-paying job for Thais is considered to be about 15,000 baht per month. Right now that is equivalent to $476.00 USD. Food is the least expensive thing here, and renting is always better than buying because it is so cheap.

Electricity runs about the same as it did for me in the US, about $60 USD per month. $75 USD per month in the hot months (6 or 7).

Depending on your partying habits, anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500 USD per month should do it.

After visiting here for 5 years before I finally moved here, I realized that I had accumulated too much stuff that didn't matter. My quality of life is much improved in every way.

Send me a PM, and I'll give you my email address if you have any other questions and want to seriously consider Thailand.
