new 'paint' ... well, its not really paint 4 Months ago
I just got the first Skype pics of the new 'paint' job on my bike. Well, its not really paint. Let me explain and hopefully I can post some pics to show you.

My bro-in-law who works for Ground FX (GFX) in Windsor, Canada, generously offered to paint my bike black. While I was there he showed me a unique process (only company in Canada)they have for 'dipping' automotive parts, well any parts) into a film which then clings, or chemically bonds, to the part. Then they clear coat it and it looks just like an air-brushed paint job. They had hundreds of samples. I chose black with skulls. You'll see... if I can upload the pics.
I also put a decal on the sides of the tank and the side covers of a cross (back-lit with blue and white light) bursting out of the graveyard of skulls, shearing the metal gas tank and leaving shards all around the outside of the hole.
It is like 'Life from the Dead', kind of a resurrection theme, but mostly it's skulls. Hundreds of skulls, but you have to look closely. I'm a military chaplain so this is a great combo for me...
Here are the pics. I hope you like it as much as I do. I can hardly wait to put my R* back together for the spring ride across Canada.

EDIT: I'm pretty frustrated not being able to upload pics. First they were too big, now it doesn't give me the edit option to do it... Grrr

Its a common process here in the US.

They use it for "painting" archery bows, compound mainly, Shotguns, small car parts motorcycle tins and so on...

$0.45/sq-in under 500 sq-in per item/job.

$0.35/sq-in over 500 sq-in per item/job.

Its pretty cool, lots of camo patterns. a serious ton.

Its pretty cool stuff.

I figured I would just 'Reply' to my own post, and that way I could post a pic.

Plus, I put it as my profile pic...

Very interesting. I would title it "Choose"

The process opens up new avenues for customs.

I saw this some days ago on ebay.

found it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roadstar-1600-Tank-and-Fenders-/320835295922?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ab3461ab2#ht_500wt_1202

The tank & fenders in this ebay ad are actually vinyl wrap. They stretch and "heat" it to mold the film to the bike.

What CAVREV is showing is "Hydrographics" done by floating the ink on top of a tank of water and dipping the part through it.

Both are new options for paint.
