reverse their direction of travel. the tire has a directional arrow stamped on the side so that when you install it on the rear that you have it rotating in the correct direction for torque. but since i have it on the front and reversed it is more for breaking. if i see the wear pattern more on one side of the tire then the other i will probably switch the direction.

the siping in the tire is ineffective when installed backwards.
yes, you can do it. it is not correct and most credible shops will not install a tire backwards for liability reasons.

Can you just pull the tire and rim off the bike and flip it then put it back on,or do you have to break it down and rebalance it again?

its best to pull the tire, flip it, balance it.
some wheels have arrows also. so if you flip the wheel around and not the tire. then the new owner or the next time it is in the shop, the tech will be confused more than they already are.

In theory I understand the thinking in mounting a rear in reverse direction for the front. I have a rear mounted up front in the proper direction and have come to the conclusion that it stops every bit ad well as the front tire that was on it previously and I feel much better about it when cornering and in wet conditions. I feel tread patterns were designed to give grip and direct water and in my thoughts reversing that alters what it was designed to do.
This might be pure Blabber but just my opinion.
Then again....I've never heard one person w reversed tires complain about it either!

And then comes my "stoopid" question... why, when you go to a CT on the rear, do you need to put a reverse rear bike tire on the front?!?!?!?

Oh, well... that certainly explains that. Thanks!
Geez, I just put a CT on the back of my bike... I think I'll go ahead and put a rear tire on the front of my bike... and for good measure, I think I'll reverse its direction!!!
Not trying to be a jerk, but this is really starting to strike me as hilarious!
Honest, I'm just trying to learn something here... and I can't fathom the sense of it on my own. I was hoping there was some kind of empirical reason for the rear tire on the front.
Anybody?
