Met a new new Harley rider 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I took a ride to the leather Man shop in Lake Ozark, Mo yesterday and pulled up next to what was obviously a new Harley. It was black and pretty with no dirt or dust. Now I know we should not bash other makes and I wont, but I have experienced this before. The guy and his ladie were deck out in new Harley logo leathers, so I thought i would walk up to them and say hi. This I did saying, what a great day for a ride, reply was yup, never looking up. I continued with, new bike, reply was yup, not looking up again. I walked in to the shop and spent some money thinking another HD jerk. I ride with some very cool HD riders that would not entertain the idea of this fella joining us for a ride with out explaining proper manners. I am a 64 year old man that appreciates all who ride bikes no matter what it is and will never understan that kind of attitude. Have a great day.

If that was me I would just tell them to kiss my fish......bo.! Did I ever tell you about when I had my custom Sporty? I was at a rally and I had just got off my bike and a guy walked up and asked " What is that?" I told him it was a customized Sportster and he said "Oh, a chick bike" I asked him what he rode and he said "Oh, my wife won't let me have one."!!!!! !! It takes all kinds!!

Gotta love Harley guys. Especially when they are all decked out in Harley gear. Down to their sox!

I run into those types all the time. Leathers look like they've never seen rain, a single bug, or even sunlight Wife looks like she'd rather be driving the Tahoe to the mall than be seen in public around me

But having said that I wouldn't tell someone they can't ride just because they aren't hardcore, but I will make fun of them

Alot of Harley riders laugh at the posers too, I ride a Harley also but don't wear any Harley billboard clothes, out of about 50 T's I have 2 that have H-D and there old school and no leather or other gear with logos.

I'll play devils advocate and say maybe the reason all you got is a 'Yup' is because they are painfully aware they are newbies to riding.

There is a leathers store here and it has long been a biker hangout.
If it wasn't for the newbies the store wouldn't make enough to stay in business. The old riders, Harley or not, go grubby in order to maintain their bike and sit on the front porch and watch the newbies roll in.

The newbies come in and buy new jackets, chaps and helmets and the older riders remark when they see it, "I've been thinking of buying a new pair of chaps for about 4 years now, but I just had to replace a sprocket."

New riders on new Harleys are new money on the hoof.
