LINDBY HIGHWAY BARS & FLOORBOARD EXTENSIONS 4 Years, 7 Months ago
Ive seen people concerned that the lindby highway bars wont work with floorboard extenders!! WELL THEY DO! Im posting a pic so you can see what it looks like and will describe how I did it.IT also made the bar alot more stable. The extenders I used are also my design, the ones on now are 2 1/2 extensions and the others are 3" which are adjustable, lazer cut and powdercoated black.

To get the 2 1/2 extensions to work, have the top hole drilled and bar mounted a little loose at top.
With your extensions mounted and floorboards adjusted to your liking take the lower chrome bracket supplied with the lindby bar and hold it up to the highway mounting hole and front mounting hole of floor board to determine where you need to cut off the chrome bracket and drill new hole. On the one pictured the floor board is adjusted half way up and I was able to cut the chrome bracket off betweeen the first and second hole where it was oblong. I took the longer piece and rounded off the corners where I cut it off and you can dab a small amount of clear coat on the end to help prevent rust.
Then I held it back up and figured out where I needed to drill a new hole to fasten the lindby bar to the bracket and marked it. Then you take your two pieces, bolt them together with a 3/8 bolt and tighten them together to where they won't move. I them drilled a small pilot hole and then drilled with a 3/8 bit.
You can then mount the bracket and snug it up a little. Go to the top of the Limbdy bar to add a shim if needed, you can use thick stainless steel washers. I only needed a 1/4" shim. You can even use an aluminum block cut to the shape of the top piece if you want so that it isn't as noticeable. With 3" extenders it may take up to 1/2" shim.
Then tighten everything down.
I AM NOT VERY GOOD AT EXPLAINING THINGS. I AM MORE THE HANDS ON TYPE!
Any questions you can still ask. Hopefully I can help.

Hey bushrjackson,Once you have the floorboard extenders on, it should only takeabout 30 min. to 1 hr to cut brackets and mount since you already have the top hole drilled for your highwaybar.

This thread is almost 2 years old, at that time the member (billjr) was making and selling them. I haven't seen him around in a while, but if your interested, you could shoot him a PM....

I bought floorboard extenders from Billy and love them.

BUT I had to dump my Yami mini engine guards and Kury pegs mounted on them. The master cylinder moved forward and was in the way.

I really miss them and either have to get some Cobra Fatty Freeway bars through Clifford and mount my pegs on them with new clamps, or remove the extenders and reinstall the mini bars.

The only problem with that the Yami mini bars offer almost no protection....like I have now with nothing

One other disadvantage of extended and tilted floorboards is that they make it harder to stand up when going over large bumps like train tracks.

Clifford, will I be able to get the fatty bars on without alterations?

My own bike has the Yami big bars and I don't see any problem.
