hello new here,want to get a little more sound an performance by drilling my exhaust,i have a xv500 1983,can that be done i have 1 exhaust on each side,would appreciate information

okay pick'in my brain here....

I think the bike has a cone muffler correct...? their should be a wide space around the 1 inch baffle exhaust hole "end cap" correct? drill 4 ea. equally spaced 1/4 inch drill bit size holes around the exhaust end cap baffle hole, center drill bit holes between the exhaust hole and chrome muffler pipe, make the drilled holes look uniform and centered on the exhaust end caps, ride it....do not go bigger it will have a fluttering sound...on deceleration

I just did the Stage 1 on my 07 R* and it made an amazing difference! I kept the pipes on the bike and used a tellescoping magnet to get the metal shards out. Also, I would suggest cutting the cone almost in half (with your Dremel tool), this will make it easier to bend down and get out of the end of the pipe.
