The old saying is true, SIZE MATTERS Glad your OK metal parts can be replaced.

I wrecked a moped many years ago in Bermuda And I will not get on a small underpowered bike on the road again

Was there even a thud or a thunk or poof? Did you have to stop? I watched a lot of videos on youtube, just after you joined, that showed what you have to ride through. I could not do it...

Glad you are OK.

Just a bang and a crash that sounded like a lot of glass breaking. He must've been carrying things made of glass. The R* didn't even flinch. I had just as soon been driving a steamroller. Just kept moving along to my destination and looking in the sideview mirror.

Didn't stop. I would have been asking for trouble. Stopping to help when you aren't at fault is almost considered an admission of guilt over here. Also, because I'm a foreigner and looked upon by locals as having more money than I need, I would have been expected to help him financially (injuries, repairs to his motorbike, etc.) just out of the kindness of my heart. I've even had friends encouraged to do this by police -- even when my friends were not at fault in the accident.

It would have been me, the wrong-doer pitiful victim and a crowd of Thais looking at the foreigner with the big fancy motorcycle in the middle of the street in downtown Udon Thani.

I just kept moving along.

In my case, the police response is always good -- even if it doesn't start out that way. My wife is a CSI with the provencial forensic police. If it looks like the police are in an anti-foreigner mode, I can always dial her on my cell and let them talk to her. Only had to do that once. Didn't have a copy of my registration with me at a check point, and it was looking like the cop wanted me to bribe him to let me go. I acted like I didn't understand him and told him I would call my wife to translate. He got the picture.

Medical response is quick. An ambulance here will run over you.

My medical/dental/hospital experiences have all been excellent and VERY inexpensive. The full price of some procedures cost less than most people's deductibles in the US.
