I find it hard to believe that the road star has 70 or higher hp. I called yamaha and they wouldn't give me the hp number. Apparently this is the norm with most manufacturer - although it seems incredibly odd to me to not disclose tech specs.

Try as I might, I couldn't find those specs on that site. Could you maybe get a little more specific as to where on there.
Also, how could those numbers be so much stronger than what anyone else is posting? HP in the 80's and torque over 105? It just doesn't ring true.
Others?

They are listed in a small summary box near the beginning of the article just under the series of pictures of the bike...

Yes Questcap, mine is a 2008 FI 1700. Without getting into too much detail, you have to understand that dyno numbers are an inadequate way to compare bikes, unless of course they are run on the same dyno, same day, no significant differences. The main purpose of a dyno is to be able to run baselines and then see gains, or losses, made with modifications. The only reason I dynoed mine was to see how much more I could wring out of it with a custom tuned PC map as opposed to a download. For those who want to know, I was able to get 2 more hp and 2 more ft lbs with the custom map.

Breach,
I understand all that, but you don't get differences as wide as that. There is NO comparison between the numbers being displayed on these different web pages.
